Population of the USA

The USA is one of the biggest English-speaking countries in the world. It is also the third biggest country according to its area and population. Currently, the population of the USA is over 312 million people. It is one of the most diverse places in the world. Many nationalities and races inhabit the USA. Several centuries ago the population of the USA accounted only 3 million inhabitants. However, every year many immigrants move to the USA, so the population rapidly grows. Native American people have come from Indian tribes. The first immigrants who settled down in America were the English and the Dutch. Later on, Hispanic and Asian settlers flocked to the USA in large numbers. The country was even once called a “melting pot”, because of its multinational population. As it is known there are 50 official states in the USA. At the moment, the most populated of all states is California, a state in the western part of the country. Another populous state is situated in the east of the USA, at the Atlantic Coast. It’s the state of New York. Some other fast growing states are Colorado, Arizona and Florida. It is expected that by the year 2050, the population of the USA will reach 420 million.
